It's Over, Time To Clean Up

Today is Monday, December 28, 2009. It was a beautiful day the sun was shinning and it was cool but not the extreme cold we have been having. The squirrels have found the wood pile and have made a game of chasing one another over it.

Started cleaning and reorganizing things again in my room. I like the totes, but they just don't allow you to really see what you have. So I am now thinking like little cubbies on the wall for the fabric. Also made this little burlap lavender hugs heart sachet for Valentine's day coming up. Need to get going on Valentine's items instead of waiting a couple of weeks before the holiday.

Christmas was nice and everyone seemed to be happy. We ate an early dinner and after that the kids kind of went on to do their own thing. Which was nice for hubby and I, ah quiet. Don't get me wrong, I do enjoy the holidays, but this year I am so glad they are over. I so couldn't wait to get decorations down and put away and the house cleaned up, things put back where they belong. The house seems so much bigger today than it did a couple of weeks ago.

Hubby is chomping at the bit trying to get into the Jacksonville area. He is checking his e-mail like he is waiting on the winning lottery numbers. He told me this morning, I don't want to go back there. I don't want you to have to. If he doesn't hear something in the next couple of days, then he knows he will be leaving Sunday. Neither one of us is looking forward to that.

Son #3 still no job. He and his dad had a "one on one" talk about taking responsibility and getting your priorities in order. Oh to be twenty-two again......

The grandkids were over and the little guy, my blanket baby, wants me to make his puppy a blanket. I asked him if he was sharing his blanket with her. He said no grandma, she really needs one of her own. LOL

Surprise!

Today is Saturday, December 26, 2009. The weather has gotten cooler with sunshine. Needless to say the fireplace has been working over time.

Hubby came into town early Wednesday morning as a "surprise". Anyone that knows me, knows I don't like surprises. I had talked to him Tuesday evening and he was getting ready to eat and load the truck for Wednesday afternoon departure. I got a call from his mom upset that she wasn't able to contact him. Told her his was probably loading the truck and the phone was laying down somewhere, not to worry. She talked for over and hour and a half.

So after that I tried to call him to let him know that she would like him to call her, no answer, tried to IM him, no response, e-mailed him, no response. OK will try again in thirty minutes. He called me and said that he had fallen asleep and the phone was still on vibrate from work, the noise from the IM woke him up. No mention of leaving soon....

The next morning I roll over to see him standing over me, this is not cool. You see I got him a Laptop and it was sitting on the floor in the bedroom. I was going to set up his Outlook e-mail that morning and then to wrap. If I had set it up before he had shut down his computer up there, it would have downloaded his e-mail to the laptop. He didn't even notice it sitting there on the floor. OK on to plan B, I didn't have a plan B!

So I crawled out of bed and asked him if he had put the coffee on, I really needed a cup and fast to get my mind moving. As he walked out of the room I pushed it up under the desk. OK out of sight. We sit at the kitchen table having coffee and let me tell you I am not at all thrilled to see him early. He is tired and needs to take a nap now, wonderful. Now how am I going to get it out from under the desk with him lying in the bed? I need more coffee......

So off to bed he goes, when he wakes up he is going to take a shower. YES! Now I quickly grab the laptop and head into my room grab a tote of fabric and bury it. Later that night he goes to see son #1, perfect. By the time he gets back the laptop is setup and wrapped.

After all is said and done, I let him know that I love him and would like nothing better than no more surprises.

Time Is Flying

Today is Tuesday December 22, 2009. The weather warmed up again today which was welcomed. The warmth of the sun felt so good.

These last few days have flown by and I have felt a little over whelmed at times. The boys quilts are finished and the granddaughters bad too. That was a relief to get their items finished. It seemed like every time that I started sewing, something put a halt to it.

The house is all but finished being cleaned all that I have to clean tomorrow is my living room. Then I have to move my laptop back to my spot on the kitchen table. Kinda took over hubbys desk while he has been gone. But tomorrow he will be home for almost two weeks and he is bringing his computer back with him. So I guess I will get the boot. LOL

Asked young son to get with his brother in the morning to get some mistletoe out of the Oak tree in the front yard. He said you are kidding right? You want me to get up in that tree? Yep I do. Well this morning when I looked out my bedroom window, there was a rather large offering of mistletoe laying right there under the Oak tree. I called young son in to see and he was thrilled.

Felt the need to go see mama yesterday. So I thought I have to go to the dollar store so I will go for coffee. I went into the dollar store and who was checking out? Mama! She looked like a little kid who got caught with her hand in the cookie jar. The look on her face was priceless. Got my things and went to have coffee. I didn't leave until almost four, so much for having coffee. We did do some running around together after a few cups of fuel. It was a nice day.

After dinner I finished up the quilt and did my Winter Solstice ritual, burned my Yule log and had some meditation time. It was a beautiful way to end an excellent day.

Such Is Life

Today is Thursday, December 17, 2009. When I woke up this morning the sun was shinning it was a beautiful day. Now for all of you that thought the 80 degrees was great, here is the five day forecast for me. If it is going to be this cold, I WANT snow! I want to make snow angels and snowmen and for sure go sledding. So we go from 80 degrees to 28 degrees in under a week, this is no fun.

Today was in my mind a wasted day. It doesn't seem like much got done. We did get the logs inside and a couple buckets of what I call sticks, hubby calls kinlin', to get the fire going. Got the boys living room really cleaned and two loads of laundry on the line and dry. No rain, but it sure did get cloudy this afternoon. I wonder if the clothes will freeze at 28 degrees, hmmm.

Then had to run to town, which just couldn't wait until tomorrow when I usually go. But when I got home I did start a fire before dinner.

So now dinner is cooking and I get a call from #3 son. It was just as I had thought while he was here. He didn't have a job or a place to live, no money and no gas to get home. So now I call his dad to let him know what is going on. He is not a happy camper, " Why did he go back if he didn't have a job?" Baby I don't know, I do know that I am not going to let one of my kids sleep in their truck and certainly not in this weather. So after eating, ran back to town AGAIN to send a money gram for gas.

Got back to the house refueled the fire and cleaned up the kitchen. My plan was to have the other quilt all cut and ready to start sewing tonight. He is here now, taking a shower and then to eat I am sure. Tomorrow is a new day......

A Couple of Things Finished

Today is Wednesday, December 16, 2009. The weather has gotten down into the sixties today and supposed to be in the fifties tonight. Tomorrow the weatherman is calling for rain. So tomorrow before the rain, the wood needs to be brought into the house so that we can have a fire, without using wet wood.

I did get the little rag quilt sewn today and tonight I will get it clipped. Tomorrow I will start the other one. With any kind of luck, I will be finished Friday. Was on a roll until we had company and the little fellow was here so I couldn't work on his gift. They stayed until almost midnight last night. So that ended the sewing, just didn't have it in me to continue after they had gone home. It was good to see them, those three grandkids have more energy at the end of the day than I do at the beginning of the day.

I was also able to get my Yule Log made, talk about waiting until the last minute. But it is done and ready for Yule.
Had a scare with the mailbox key today. Young son had checked the mail on Monday, son #5 said he would run and check the mail today. When he went to get the key, it wasn't there. Yes we have two keys, one here and the other one hubby has on his keyring. After searching for a couple of hours young son found the key. Oh happy day! Keys and I just don't go together, I have a total of three keys in my possession, car key, house key and a key to mom's house. All other keys are on their own rings on hooks.

So tonight I will watch television and clip, clip, clip. This is my favorite part, it is almost finished and I will be able to finally see it. Then I think I will make a batch of mints, they don't take that long and everyone loves them. This was one of the first questions I got last night, "Grandma where are the mints, the tree is up?". Love them babies!

Don't forget today is a New Moon, write those abundance checks and smudge.

Half Way Finished

Today is Monday, December 14, 2009. It was another hot and muggy day, 80 degrees. When do we get the Fall weather? If it was just hot without the muggy, it would be fine. But, oh how I really dislike that humidity. The miniature Japanese Magnolia tree has buds on it, no leaves. Will be interesting to see what happens here.

This is what I have been working on for the most part of the day. It is going to be a rag quilt for my grandson. It is all cut out and pinned up so I know where things go. Then tomorrow I will sew each square and start putting it together. In the center where the two blanks are, is going to be his hand prints. I sent his mother home with the things that she needed to get it done. I hope she did this today so that I can get it set and finished tomorrow. After it is all sewn together, it has to all be clipped and then washed.

On Wednesday I am hoping to get another one cut out and pinned for another grandson. He likes sports so this is what I am going to try to do. With some time and few interruptions, I should have both of them done no later than Friday. I don't like to run the dryer so I will wait to wash them together.

Talked to hubby tonight, he is not a happy camper, the internet is out again where he is at. It has been out since before he left last week. I told him not to feel bad, Comcast is out more than working and there is no way it could be another modem. I called them today and she put a work order in, her computer wouldn't let her do this. Come to find out is was an area outage. I think I should be able to pay my Comcast bill every thirty days of continuous service.

Have to get a load of laundry put away and finish up the kitchen, then maybe I will start sewing tonight. But then maybe not. LOL

Three Day Weekend Is Over

Today is Sunday, December 13, 2009. It was a cloudy start to the day but by eleven it was sunny and back to 78 degrees. It is now raining, go figure.

Hubby got in late Thursday and was in a far better mood than he left there in. Thankful for that for sure. He was able to get a couple of things done in the yard that he has been wanting to get done. I do think that with all of the rain and the warm weather, that yard is going to have to be mowed sometime this week. Who would have thought that in the middle of December you would have to mow your yard?

I was able to get this little jean tote made for my granddaughter today. I did this while he was driving. Finished before he arrived back in SC. Also got mom some soup made and got to visit her again today for about an hour. Took her some fried chicken and mashed potatoes with white gravy, corn and biscuits last night for dinner. Hubby and I sat with her for a couple of hours.

We did a ran a few errands on Saturday and he worked in the yard while I cooked dinner. That man loves his yard and his toys in it. LOL Then we just hung out watching movies the rest of the night. I know he isn't sleeping good there, he comes home and sleeps twelve to sixteen hours the first night home.

Made his BBQ ribs, baked beans and biscuits at noon and then sent him off to SC. Ten days and he will be home for almost two weeks. We are hoping that this is his last trip and goes to Jacksonville. Son #3 left about four this afternoon. He came in last night and said that his boss had called him and they start back to work Monday. What a relief that was. Still haven't heard from him and he should have been there about thirty minutes ago.

Now off to see what I have missed the last couple of days with my blog family. I really miss reading my blogs.

A Productive Day and A Three Day Weekend

Today is Thursday, December 10, 2009. The days have been cloudy but warm. Yesterday rained most of the afternoon and early evening. The winds were really wild. I do think there is
lots to clean up out there. Just not today.

Things seem to be OK with daughter and son in law. They were here today picking up her brothers for the night. A night of video games and movies, and I am sure junk food. LOL So I am thankful that all is well with them.

Son #3 I am still unsure of what is going on with him and to be honest, I don't think he knows what is going on with him. I do know that he needs to get to work if not here, then back home. What concerns me with him, it just doesn't seem to bother him not to be working. That concerns me....

Anyway I did get this tote finished today for a very special friend for Yule. One side is done in Halloween, the other side is done in Yule and the sides are Spring and Summer. Going to send her a surprise package. Just for her, everything in it. No dishes, crock pots, pots or pans, just stuff for her.

Got the banana bread made last night which daughter took two loaves with her today on the way out the door while son #3 ate a loaf of last night while it was warm. So we have three loaves left. That's not bad in this house to have half a batch left on the second day.

Started cleaning the kitchen ceiling and almost finished will finish it tonight. That is a job that you have to finish no putting it off. LOL

Hubby called today at four. He never calls me at four so I figured something was wrong. He wasn't a happy camper. Said that he had the next three days off AGAIN and was coming home. OK...... They are waiting on engineers so that they can go forward, so the leads told them to take off the next three days. I sure hope that he feels better in the next seven hours before he gets here. So supper will be about eleven thirty tonight, so I will be eating cheese and crackers before then for sure.

So now I am off to the kitchen ceiling to get that finished before he gets here and make supper. I am hoping he will just be happy to be home for the weekend and not upset about the last minute three day weekend again this week. I bet he brings me a gift of dirty laundry, wanna bet? LOL

Odds and Ends

Today is Monday, December 7, 2009. It has been a cloudy day all day, no sunshine even at sunset. Not as cold as it was yesterday, brrrr.

Didn't get to much done today just did odds and ends. Did get the boys living room cleaned up and the tree is finally up and decorated. Just about finished with shopping for the things that I didn't buy or make handmade. Which reminds me I need to get with Brenda for another pair of slippers. Almost forgot, this would not have been good.

Talked with hubby tonight, he is having computer issues. So after walking him through how to get his wireless going again which took about an hour, he was calmed down. He found out that the same company that he is contracting with now has openings in Jacksonville. Tomorrow he is going to find out about that.

Son #3 is still here. Of course I am thinking that he was laid off and doesn't want to tell anyone. He hasn't worked in going on five weeks today. This is not a good sign, I don't know of any companies that take off this long for the Thanksgiving weekend. So tomorrow he and I will go for a walk and I will ask what is happening with him.

Daughter called son #5 to go shopping with her tonight. Hmmmm, what's up with that? Why isn't son in law going with her? Oh, I hope things are alright with them. I will know the answers when my son gets home.

I did hear some really wonderful news tonight, I just can't say anything, only because I promised I wouldn't. I am sooo excited for her.

Another Wonderful Surprise

Today is Sunday, December 6, 2009. It has been wet and cold here for the past few days. We are under a freeze warning until nine this morning. Update on the Jeep, was just expansion. No leaks. Doing the happy dance.

Things have been busy here. Hubby called at lunch on Friday and said that he was coming home for the weekend. A friend of his was coming home and wanted to know if he wanted to ride along. He found out on Friday that they were closing down on Saturday, so he said no point in staying. So Friday showed up, another unexpected surprise this weekend. They will be leaving at noon today.

The cable has been off more than on the last week. I figured it had to do with all of the storms that rolled in. So finally on Thursday I called them and they sent out a guy, it was the modem AGAIN. This is the fourth modem in the last six months. Well the fifth if you count the first one that he hooked up that didn't work. So now we are on again without all of the interruptions.

Hubby redid the cover on the pool yesterday and said boy was that a job, I said I know. With all of the rain it was starting to pool on the cover and trying to drain it off with all of the pine needles was turning into an all weekend project. So he pulled it off and redid it, faster than trying to get it to drain.

Then we put lots of stuff into the shed. Things that were just in the house for no reason other than no one wanted to take them out. So today we are going to put up the tree before he leaves, at least that is the plan anyway.

Son #3 is leaving today too. The house will be back to the two boys and I this afternoon. It will be quiet here after the last couple of weeks.

A Leak?

Today is Tuesday, December 1, 2009. It was cloudy and windy most of the afternoon. The day started out with sunshine and then was hidden with the clouds.

Managed to get three loads of laundry out on the lines this morning and got a few more pictures taken for my Etsy shop. Then the clouds rolled in and that ended the picture taking. Not like that is my favorite thing to do, so it didn't break my heart. LOL

Then it was off to the grocery store. I thought that by Tuesday everyone might be a little tired of shopping after the weekend. Boy was I wrong. From now on I think I will go early in the morning, no more afternoons for me. When we got to the car to load the groceries, I noticed moisture under it. There was no air conditioner running so nothing should be leaking. So I crawled under there to see what it was and it was antifreeze. This is not a good thing. I am hoping that it is just a hose that didn't get tightened up while installing the engine. If tomorrow is a clear day, I will put it up on the trailer and see where it is coming from. Keeping fingers crossed it is just a hose.

Got the rest of the painting done and touched up in my room and started going through all of the boxes of fabric, trying to get things sorted out. Then to get them into plastic tubs for storage. This will make life so much easier. Have so many clothes that I want to use for rag quilts, now just to get them all sorted out.

We are having another Magical Holiday Artist Giveaway! Click on the top picture on my sidebar to go right to it. Go get yourself entered at a chance to win some really wonderful offerings. This giveaway will end soon enough that you should have your winnings before the holidays.
