A Wild Ride

Today is Monday, August 31, 2009. It is cloudy this morning, the sun is so trying to peak out. Very calm outside....

Yesterday was one of those days. Everything was moving right along. Started my project with the apples to make a wreath and stacker. Got them peeled went to core the apples and my corer broke. Checked with the neighbors and no one had one, so I sliced them and then cut the core out. Into the oven they went.

On to taking pictures so that I could get these items listed. All was going well, the boys were outside with dad cleaning up the yard and splitting logs. Then it was feeding time, OK fix a big lunch and I won't have to worry about this chore again for a while.

Got that cleaned up and the oldest son stopped by with a grandson. OK it was time to check on the apples and sure enough they were ready to come out of the oven. I took all four trays out to cool. I was in taking more pictures and cutting fabric when I hear Papa say it looks like dessert grandma is making. OH NO! The alarm went off, he is talking about my apples for my wreath!

You have to keep in mind that boys will eat everything and anything, this is NOT a good thing where my apples are concerned. Too late, Papa had given him a slice. Oh, please don't give those to him, they are for a project. They can't taste good, smell wonderful yes, but not to eat. "These are good, can I have another one?" These were apple slices with allspice, cinnamon, and cloves, how "good" could they be?

Next thing I hear is my youngest scream MOM in that voice that every mother knows, something very wrong has happened. My heart sank into my stomach and off to find him. Knowing that when I did, it wasn't going to be good. Here he comes in the front door one hand cupping the other and blood everywhere. Rushing him to the sink to clean it up and see what is going on, no dad this is not good, butterfly strips are not going to work here.

He was riding his skateboard and fell, his right hand hit the tag of the hauling trailer and cut his palm long and deep. So off to the hospital he and dad went. We have found that it is much easier if mom doesn't go to the hospital. Dad says the boys don't cry when mom isn't there, OK I got it I'll stay here with the other boys and grandson.

About three very long hours later here they come. He had to have ten stitches, no pool, no computer, he is not happy. I am not happy, he is a very active kid and now what am I going to do to get him through the next couple of weeks? He of course, the other boys and his dad, find this a story telling adventure, a "battle wound" story to tell.

After things calmed down, I returned to the kitchen to find that I had only one tray of apples left. So i quickly grabbed them up and started my stacker, all was not lost. I am looking forward to finishing that today. Hubby said that he really did think it was dessert. "You always have desserts of some kind baking and they smelled so good."

Incense are going and candles are lit, this is going to be a very calm day, I am going to see to it.

Where Did The Day Go?

Today is Saturday, August 29, 2009. It was a beautiful day, the sun shinned all day and not a drop of rain. However it went entirely to fast. It is already eleven o'clock and I haven't gotten nearly the things I wanted to get done today done. The rose bud I discovered Thursday, this is the bloom today. Nature rocks!

Got the laundry started early, wasn't taking any chances of afternoon storms rolling in this afternoon. Worked on getting the pool cleaned out, hubby helped with this chore. If that is what
you want to call it. The rain really does a number on it. Got groceries and this I do consider a real chore.

Finished four altar kits and five more drawstring bags. Have not gotten pictures taken or listed yet, however they are ready to do tomorrow. Then I made homemade ranch dressing with a recipe from Living the Frugal Life Blog. It was very easy and oohhh it is very good. She also has an instant cobbler topping recipe that I made a batch of and is now put up. It is also very good and very quick to make. Gotta love that!

Tomorrow I will start a project that I got from Confessions of a Kitchen Witch Blog. It will take time for the drying or baking process so it isn't like I won't be able to do anything else. I am excited about this one. It is an Apple Craft wreath and I am going to make a stacker for my mom. If they turn out the way I think they will, this will be one of my favorite fall projects.

Fall seems to bring so many beautiful colors and scents with it. It is cooler and the windows are open, the scents of outdoors and the scents of backing indoors are always welcome. The sounds of the crisp fallen leaves and the wind. I love the sound of the wind so peaceful. Fall has a way of renewing all of your senses and your energy.

I will miss summer, however I will welcome all of the beauty that fall has to offer and enjoy every minute of it.

I truly hope that everyone is enjoying their weekend and the summer days that we have left. Remember yesterday, dream about tomorrow, but live today! ~Brightest Blessings~

My Room

Today is Wednesday, August 26, 2009. It looks like it is going to be a cloudy day. Storm season might have gotten a late start, but it is here. If you want to get anything done outside, it needs to be done in the early morning. The birds were singing this morning and the roosters were crowing. They were happy about something.

Well, I did get the spare room cleaned out and most of my things moved into it. I am so thrilled to have gotten this done. Now to put up different curtains and my stuff on the walls. Would love to put another window in there. I think I had better wait until I get the shelf/table in before I ask for another window. That just might be pushing it a little.

Most of the fabric is sorted out and working on getting the extra squares that have been cut, sorted out by size. This will make life so much easier. And to know where everything is! Just the thought of not having to put everything away every afternoon is thrilling. When I have to put something down to work on later, I can walk out of my room and close the door. When I go back, it will be just as I have left it. My very own room!

So today I will work on putting some things on the wall, changing the curtains and starting a few more projects. The picture was taken yesterday after the storms. Better go get the clothes off the line and then to my room.

Have a happy, healthy, productive day! ~Brightest Blessings~

It's Monday

Today is Monday, August 24, 2009. It is a beautiful day, the sun is shining and very bright outside. Cooler this morning, it is suppose to get to 93 degrees, but I don't think that is going to happen.

This was a chair that my mom rescued from a burn pile this weekend. Isn't she a beauty? Mom said I knew you would want it. A little fixing here and there and it is going to become my new chair. I just love these old chairs. Folks use to make items with such pride, their items lasted forever. Now everything seems to be disposable.

Had a great weekend, nice weather and cooking outdoors. Didn't spend to much time indoors. Went to see my mom yesterday that is always a nice visit. She loves football and the season is here. She wants to visit, but can't seem to take her eyes off of the television.

Today is work in my room day. All chores are done and it is time to get organized in that room. Packages are ready to go, son is taking them to the Post Office and the house is quiet. Now is the time to get things moving in a forward direction.

Tuesday Gray

Friday Rose
Saturday Blue

Nonproductive?

Today is Thursday, August 20, 2009. It started out to be a beautiful sunny and hot day. WOW! Did the storms roll in quick. The thunder is loud that it rattled the windows. Raining buckets out there. The up side, I don't have to water today, the down side, the pool is a mess. A real mess...That's OK it is my chore to clean, gee do I have to? LOL

I haven't even got to start cleaning out the spare room. Son brings me his headliner out of his truck and would like it to be redone in this material. I have never "redone" a headliner. His words to me,"How hard could it be, you can do it." Well now, if it isn't that hard, what is stopping you? His reply,"You will make it look so much better than what I will." Really? So after planning on how to go about it, I did do it and it doesn't look bad. I was impressed with the finished product. I did ask him not to tell anyone who had done it, not wanting to find his friends at my doorstep with their headliners.

I was able to get my drawstring bags listed and one Samhain Altar Kit. I feel like time is moving very rapidly this week and there is no way for me to catch up. I so want to get into that spare room, I know where everything will be put and how it will look when it is finished. Maybe I just need to put a sign on the front door, "Gone Fishing", think it will work?

Today is a New Moon, make sure to get those abundance checks written and smudge. This will be done right after dinner. Then maybe I can disappear into the spare room and no one will come to look for me. hehehe

Have a happy, healthy, productive day! ~Brightest Blessings~

A Welcome Interruption

Today is Tuesday, August 18, 2009. The sun is trying to make its way through the clouds. Over cast this morning with a few beams of sunlight.

Today I am going to tackle the spare room. Thinking that this will take a couple of days to do. It wouldn't be a chore, except there is so much stuff in there. First to figure out what to do with all of that "stuff". Only to move my "stuff" in there. LOL

Yesterday was a productive day. Yes, Renee I did get the kitchen deep cleaned. It always makes me feel so good after deep cleaning. A real sense of accomplishment, it looks good, feels good and smells so good.

I did have one interruption while cleaning. The dogs were going crazy. Now you have to know that not much gets Doc up and moving, so when he does, you need to check to see what is going on. Looked out the front door and didn't see anything. So grabbed my shoes and out the back door I went. Nothing, around to the side of the house and the horses in the field were here.

This was a welcome interruption, they haven't visited us in a long time. My son loves to feed them apples. He will be happy to know that they are coming back. He says he likes the feel of their lips on his hand. LOL

The boys had a wonderful day at the springs. They were dragging when they got home and early to bed they all went. Yes, they made it home safely and yes, my heart soared when I seen the car pull up into the yard!

Colors for the week:
Monday White
Tuesday Black
Wednesday White
Thursday Crimson New Moon Write those abundance checks and smudge
Friday Purple
Saturday Indigo
Sunday Amber

Do something today that makes you feel good! Remember to take a little "me" time. Have a happy, healthy, productive day! ~Brightest Blessings~

Thanks for stopping by!

Storms, Storms and More Storms

Today is Monday, August 17, 2009. Looks like the clouds are rolling in again this afternoon. It started out to be a beautiful day. It is however storm season, no matter how late it maybe, it is here.

Three of the boys are headed to the springs this morning. Oh I still worry about them no matter what age they are. The driver hasn't had his license that long and when the roads here get lots of rain, they do not drain. Standing water is dangerous on the roads and to not have much experience well, yes it does worry me. Maybe just maybe the oldest one will talk the younger one out of the keys if the weather turns bad on them.

With no one home for most of the day, I have decided to tear the kitchen apart and really deep clean. This will probably take three or four hours, but no interruptions. This never happens here. Going to take advantage of it.

I really dislike storm season and the unknown of just what path one of them is going to take.

I have decided that I am going to work on the spare bedroom that is full of stuff to make it into my room. A room that I can decorate the way that I want, set up the sewing machine and leave it out. A long shelf to work on cutting fabrics with storage under it for the fabric. Work on my projects and not have to clean everything up. This should take my mind off of these storms.

If you haven't read Sarah's Quilting Blog this morning, get on over there and do it. It is a beautiful post. Kudos to you on this one!

Time to get busy! Have a happy, healthy, productive day! ~Brightest Blessings~

I Got An Award From Sarah!

Today is Sunday, August 16, 2009. The storms have been rolling in one right after the other. The yard looks like a tornado has hit it several times and the pool looks like a pine forest, smells like it too. Strong winds, drenching rain and at one point hail. We now have two tropical storms out there Ana and Bill and looks like another one behind Bill.

I am sooo excited, yesterday I received the Domestic Witch Blog Award from a very talented, positive Sarah! Thank you so much, I am still doing the happy dance. This means a lot coming from Sarah. Not to mention this is a first ever for me and coming from Sarah, woot woot!

No Matter What The Weather

Today is Saturday, August 15, 2009. It looks like we have a few storms brewing out there. So needless to say, it has been cloudy and rainy again this morning.

We did get a start on the wood yesterday and will continue to split the rest of it today. Then to finish cutting the long ones into smaller ones to split for the fireplace. If it doesn't rain, then on to cutting the lawn and raking up the chips to use for the grill or to start the fireplace.

Have to go and get gas just in case we have to fire up the generator. The last time we had storms rolling through and lost power for almost a week. The only real problem there is no water. No electric, no pump, no water, no shower. I can live without a lot of things, but the shower isn't one of them.

If the rain comes in to bad, I will work on projects inside. Maybe go get groceries. Not a favorite job. No matter what the weather turns out today, things will continue to get done.

Have a happy, healthy, productive day! Enjoy your family and the final days of summer. ~Brightest Blessings~

Finally Friday

Today is Friday, August 14, 2009. It rained on and off yesterday and it looks like it is going to do the same today. Need for it to stay dry today.

So needless to say I didn't get to take the pictures that I wanted to retake. Have to get the wood split too, the season is quickly changing. Another summer almost at a close....

I remember thinking the first week of summer, while it was 102 degrees outside, the house closed up, the air conditioner running, I hope this summer gets over quick. Then the weather went into the usual 90's and all was good. Now summer is almost gone and I will miss all of the time spent outdoors, grilling, eating, swimming, playing in the dirt. The grand kids learning and exploring the outside world.

Today weather permitting the wood will get split and stacked for the change of another season. With it will bring the lights, the candles, the opening up of the house, hot chocolate, and my favorite hot apple cider. The cozy sweat shirts the socks and shoes, no more sandals, no more tank tops or shorts. Now instead of gathering outside at the pool or picnic table, it will be done in the living room in front of the fire place, roasting marshmallows.

I did get the incense holders and candle holders made yesterday, so again weather permitting, I will be able to get the pictures to list the kits.

Have a happy, healthy, productive day. Make sure that you take a few minutes of me time. ~Brightest Blessings~

Monday Was A Productive Day!

Today is Wednesday, August 12, 2009. Another gorgeous day! Ninety-two degrees and a slight breeze. Yes! Monday was a productive day!

Finished Moms lap quilt, the two altar cloths, cut fabric for another four cloths and 2 more drawstring bags are finished. Now to get the clay out and make the incense burners for the kits to get them put together and listed.

Moms Quilt she got her angels. And of course blue.

I will have to retake these pictures of these drawstring bags. The pictures are just not showing the true color. It is a satin material the is a very deep purple and changes colors in the light. Will be working on that tomorrow. Oh, how I love trying to get the right angles and light to take pictures. LOL

Maybe if I try it with a white back ground? Maybe not, it is just a trial and error with me and taking pictures. grrrrr

This is one of the altar cloths that are finished. See how the white with the gold stars just got so bright that it makes the picture look really bad. So this is another one that I will be working on. There is no flash, I usually take my pictures outside. Maybe tomorrow will be a better day for taking pictures.

We had a storm again last night that came out of no where. My pool looked like a pine forest when it was all over. So had to get that cleaned out today. I love that chore cleaning the pool.

Hope that your week is going great and you are getting all of those things that you are trying to get done and caught up on. Have a happy, healthy, productive day! ~Brightest Blessings~

Productive Monday? We Shall See

Today is Monday, August 10, 2009. It is going to be another gorgeous day! Have to get somethings finished up before I can go out and enjoy it. And of course my chores. LOL

It was a wonderful weekend and the weather was wonderful all day, evening thunderstorms rolled after dark. Which was OK by me, great sleeping weather and didn't have to water the plants.

I did work on my site last night. Sharon came through for me! Thank You Sharon! So now I have a links page with clickable links! This was a real challenge for me. Wouldn't you know it was the only little box that I didn't try to use, only because when I did, everything was in html code, well dah! Was so excited when I finally got it the way that I wanted it. I love sharing links with friends.

Would like to finish the two altar cloths that I have started and finish up moms quilt today. At least this is my plan this morning. Have to also get two more rows of my sons quilt done also. Instead of trying to get everything done at once, I have decided to do them in so many rows a day. This is a big project and will take about another 10 days to finish putting together. Then to clip, ooohhh. It will be well worth it to see his face when it is finally finished.

Colors for the week:
Monday Lavender
Tuesday White
Wednesday Brown
Thursday Turquoise
Friday Pink
Saturday Gray
Sunday Gold

I hope that you all enjoyed your weekend! Grab the kids and head outside! Have a happy, healthy, productive day! Brightest Blessings!

Simply A Wonderful Day!

Today is Sunday, August 9, 2009. I do believe that today will be another beautiful day. Yesterday was just wonderful!

Our son and his wife and my, you know favorite granddaughter came over. This was not a planned visit and was just delightful. They stayed all day. The baby and I could be found in the pool for a couple of hours. We waited until all of the others came out and then we went in. It was just her and I. She loves to talk and talk she did.

Hubby grilled and daughter in law cooked sides. This was just fine with the little one and I. By the time her and I got out of the pool it was almost time to eat. I beat I can have her swimming by the time she is two. She loves the water.

After dinner it was time for them to go home. They were all tired, I think dad might just have to join his daughter with an early bedtime. It is such a joy to have them over.

Had to get mom a new phone, her battery was not holding a charge. So I had a phone here that I charged and activated for her. She is a hoot. She doesn't answer it if she doesn't fell like it, but if she calls me and I don't get to it in time........

I hope that everyone is seriously enjoying the summer and the outdoors. If not, get out there and enjoy it, the change of season will be here soon enough. ~Brightest Blessings~

Listings Done!

Today is FRIDAY, August 7, 2009. A beautiful day it has turned out to be. A few clouds rolled in this morning, but rolled out just as fast. Looks like an eat out, cook out, in pool afternoon! YES!

I finally got the drawstring bags listed this morning! Yeah! Laundry done, bills paid, checkbook balanced and Friday too!

Worked on my site page of links again yesterday without any luck. So, yes I will admit defeat and sent an e-mail to Sharon for her help. Something so simple shouldn't be so hard to figure out. Most things if I work at it for a little while I can figure out, however not this.

Trying to get everything done early today before hubby gets home. He is getting off two hours early today. (((smiles))) Unsure why, but I have really missed him this week. I guess it is the summer and outdoor time that we spend together.

Thought that I would share a couple of more of the drawstring bags with you.

No rain yesterday afternoon, so no I didn't get moms quilt finished. I will get it done before the change of season. LOL Time to get busy again.

Have a happy, healthy, productive day! Enjoy the outdoors and the weekend! Brightest Blessings !

A Few Items Finished!

Today is Thursday, August 6, 2009. A beautiful morning today, but supposed to be afternoon showers again today. Has been a very busy last few days! However very productive. This is a picture of a caterpillar that I took while mowing the yard. I have never seen one this big or color. The little horn things are soft, just had to share this one. Then had to move him out of the way.

I did get 7 drawstring bags finished and pictures taken. Now just to get them listed. LOL That is not my favorite thing to do. These are just a couple of them.

I also completed a couple of Altar clothes that I also need to get listed. Have a couple of more started just not finished.

My lap rag quilt for mom is all but done! All that I need to do now is sit long enough to clip and wash it. I do believe that she will like it. It has lots of her favorite things. If it rains this afternoon I will sit and clip it, if not to the pool.

I have been so spoiled with summer. We have cooked outside and ate outside most of it. The pool has been wonderful and line drying the clothes is just awesome. This past few days, we have had rain in the afternoon, so everything outside has come inside. Talk about whining......

Hope that you too are enjoying your summer, get outside and have fun the kids will follow, great family time and very well spent! Have a happy, healthy, productive day! Brightest Blessings!
