It's Saturday!

Today is Saturday, February 27, 2010. It is once again another rainy day. No sun just clouds and rain. It was cold again last night and supposed to be again tonight. My Jeep really needs to be washed, but I am thinking that isn't going to be happening anytime soon.

Yesterday wasn't as bad as it has been a little warmer and not windy. We did make it to town or I made it to town, the boys said no we are staying right here. Okay then, be back when I am finished. They only have to go with me when I need to get critter food or hay. Chores were done in under two hours. Need to change my town day to Saturdays. With the boys back to school work, it is to crazy doing on Fridays. So it will be back to Saturdays again. George and I use to go to town on Saturdays together, stop for a mocha and hit the flea market, just to see what just might be had.

You know this will work out next week! He will be home next Friday, at least this is the plan, so we can go together Saturday! That is so exciting! I do have to share another very exciting something with you.

Sonia over at Dark Ravens Nest has just opened up an Artfire shop! I truly love her art, it speaks to me, I relate to it. There are loads of artist that I really like, however her's I love. So when she started the series "Someday Land" I decided to start my collection of this wonderful art. I feel so blessed to have been able to purchase her art, not to mention thrilled when she opened up a shop! Thank you Sonia for sharing your talent! Looking forward to many more pieces of your art.

So today I will try to motivate myself into creating something, anything. Time to get some candles and incense burning and get to work. Because when Spring does get here, nothing will be done inside the house.

Looks Can Be So Deceiving

Today is Thursday, February 25, 2010. It was a beautiful day out there today. Just gorgeous! How looks can be so deceiving! It was breezy and very cold out there. However, looking out through the dining room window, it would appear to be a very warm come play with me in the sun day.

When I woke up this morning, it was thrilling to see the sun coming up and the beautiful blue skies. So exciting! Until I went out to open the gates for the delivery guys and the meter reader guy, they were all due today. OH MY WORD! It was cold and I do mean cold. It didn't take me long to do what I had to do out there. It seems that once you get cold there is no getting warm.

Oh how I long to be out there in my shorts and bare foot. The warmth of the sun warming my body and the ground. Playing in the dirt and planting my garden. Firing up the BBQ family dinners at the picnic table, grandkids in the pool, eating crabs and oysters. All of the fresh vegetables from the garden. The very long warm summer days. Watching our pale bodies turn golden brown, our bulbs turning into a gorgeous firework of colors. The smell of fresh cut grass.....

Back to the real world of jeans and sweat shirts, socks and shoes. A fire in the fireplace, with tonight down to 20 degrees. Fresh baked bread out of the oven this evening, Doc curled up on Young son's bed and Lady curled up on the love seat.

The Week is Half Over Already

Today is Wednesday, February 24, 2010. It started out to be a pretty day outside and then early afternoon here come the storms again. While out feeding the critters today a few of these were popping up in the yard. We are under a freeze warning again tonight. Spring can not get here soon enough for me.

Was able to get a couple of loads of towels and more bedding out on the line and dried before the rain came. I really love the smell of my sheets and towels when they are dried outside. Did get to open the house up for a little while until the wind started blowing, wow does that cool everything down.

The boys sure have been ugly to one another the last few days. I am not sure why, no females involved this time, but you would think they really disliked one another. Thinking it has to do with their dad not being home and now the pack order, so they think is kicking in. Young son informed me tonight that three weeks is much to long for dad to be gone. No argument from me here, totally agree with you.

The part for his truck didn't make it today, I think the guy is drop shipping. He said that it would go out UPS and then he said Priority Mail. He is in TN and it is being shipped from NJ. I hope that it gets here tomorrow so that I can get it out to him to have Saturday. This will give him something to do this weekend.

I have to admit that I was kind of lost Friday not buying groceries for two households and then cooking for at least two weeks. Felt like I was getting out of doing something. LOL

Made an Etsy Treasure tonight if you would care to click and comment, that would be wonderful.
It can be found here.

Another Soggy Day

Today is Monday, February 22, 2010. It rained all day so needless to say the ground is really soggy again and the bedding didn't get done.

Today was one of those days. Very sluggish even the boys weren't with it. It took us 8 hours to get school work completed, something that would normally take about 4 hours to do. Not sure if it is the weather or not getting enough sleep. Whatever it is, it makes for a very long day.

Quit about three and had to run to town and to the Post Office, when I returned we finished up school and started dinner. Usually I have most of the afternoon to get my chores done and do a little creating, not today. The headliner did get put back into the car though, which was a good thing not to have to keep moving it around the house because it was in the way.

George called and said he fell asleep really early last night and planned on doing it again tonight. Very good idea, considering how you have been sick for the last couple of weeks. Then we found out that our neighbor who lives across the street is ill. He is younger than George and I. He is such a doer too. He never stops and is always working in the yard when not at work. My heart goes out to him.

I felt so energized yesterday and today has just been a real struggle to do anything. My brain seems to be missing in action, can't seem to remember to much for to long. Maybe it is all of the day dreaming of Spring. All of the plans that are running through my mind of what I am going to be doing in the yard this Spring and Summer, what needs to be done. And my chickens, I so want to get my chickens this Spring. My family all tell me that I am crazy, well probably.

Spring?

Today is Sunday, February 21, 2010. It was a gorgeous day today. The sun was shinning and a wonderful 71 degrees. My body welcomed the warmth of the sun.

Young son spent the weekend with his friend and son #5 spent the weekend at home. He and I did a new headliner for his car. His was so bad and needed to be done. So he and son #3 took it out Friday. Saturday we went and got the fabric and spray glue to redo his. It is finished and they will but it back in his car tomorrow.

Got lots of laundry done this weekend, curtains, throw rugs towels, the weather was so wonderful. We even opened up the house, of course we had to close the windows after the sun went down. So if it is another nice day tomorrow, grabbing the bedding.

I did get the pillow and wall hanging listed on Etsy too. We went to see mom today. She and her friends had went out last night. She was just full of herself today, must have been the beer. LOL

The Week Is Almost Over

Today is Thursday, February 18, 2010. It is so pretty outside and so cold. It's a whooping 35 degrees right now. I do believe that if the wind would stop for a little while, things might just warm up a bit.

I don't know where this week has went to, but it is almost over. With the sun shinning I was able to get pictures yesterday. So tomorrow night I will list the wall hanging and the pillow. George called Monday, he has a stomach virus. Sorry to hear that but glad you are there and not here with it. He wasn't having any luck with getting the part for his truck so I went on line found it and it has been ordered.

He said that he checked at the dealers and the part was over $400! He said he would buy a new truck first. LOL When I asked him about checking on line, he said no, not yet. Well why not? He knows that I buy everything on line except for groceries and gas. The part will be here Monday it was new, for $63 and comes with a warranty. So he will have it Wednesday, they wouldn't ship to him.

Another year of school books will be here this morning all 44 pounds of them. So needless to say today will be busy with paperwork to get things in order to start in the morning again. Back to routine again after a month. They miss the routine as much as I do. It's one thing to have the weekend off, but to have a month, it wasn't as much "fun" as they thought it was going to be. It was a nice break, but they are looking forward to getting started again.

So today will be busy with books and cleaning up the house getting things back where they need to be and of course laundry. George won't be home until the first weekend of March so no extra cooking or shopping this weekend.

Finished Wall Hanging

Today is Monday, February 15, 2010. It was another rainy cloudy day. Supposed to get into the twenties again tonight and the rest of the week. We do have cloud cover tonight, so maybe it won't get as cold as they are saying. Keeping my fingers crossed.

George left at noon today. I don't think this man has had a weekend of not working on a car or truck. This weekend his turn signals were all wonky. Driving down the road and they would start flashing for no reason. He would go to turn them off and with washer blades would start. So he needs to replace the whole assembly. Needless to say that isn't happening here in Lake City. So he is hoping that when he gets back to SC someone will have it in stock. That would make me batshit, truly it would.

His trip back was good, the weather was dry and he seen the sun. I was happy for him. He has made that trip so many times in bad weather. It was time for a good weather trip.

When I knew that he was almost back to SC, I gathered the boys up and took them to get some new jeans and shirts. They won't buy clothes and it so makes me crazy seeing them in jeans with the knees ripped out. They thought I was crazy when I told them to get ready we are going. Now? Yes go get in the car. They don't like to have to try on pants, I don't like to have to exchange them. I won this battle. They both have new clothes.

When we finished up getting their clothes, we went to go see mom. Oh, that woman doesn't stop. See had a t.v. dinner in the microwave, this was her dinner. Why do you not cook real food? It is real food! How are you supposed to cook for one person? I just cooked three weeks for one person. Well, where is it at? Okay mom..... I guess it is time to cook a few batches of soup and some corn bread for her.

I did get this wall hanging finished up tonight. Tomorrow if the sun is out, the pictures will be better and I can get it listed in my Etsy shop. Sure hope that everyone enjoyed their Valentine's day. Even if they spent the time alone enjoying a great book. Who better to love, than you?

Quick Update

Today is Saturday, February 13, 2010. The sun is out! Can you believe it? I took this screen shot yesterday at noon.

George called me at seven yesterday morning to check the radar, he was at work and planned to leave at noon, lunch time. When I seen the radar, there was blue, never have I seen blue. So found the key and it said snow. Snow? That white frozen rain falling from the sky?

When I seen the radar, I was thinking there is no way he is going to miss this if he leaves at noon. Told him what I seen and thought. He decided to leave at eight, a wise decision. This is what he would have encountered if he had left when planned. He made it in about three. He did run in and out of snow and sleet.

After returning from town yesterday, I had read all of the great comments on my blog. Suzie had left a potion to get rid of the stink of skunk from the dogs. I had only one bottle of peroxide so off the the store to get two more. With young son have to have one on hand for almost daily use.

So after dinner the potion was made, George wanted to know what I was up to. LOL Just trying to get the stink off of your dogs. George got Doc and brought him into the house. Doc does NOT like baths or anything to do with water. Okay that wasn't so bad was it Doc and you smell so much better. He gave me the look of disgust. Then to do Lady, she likes her baths and water. They both slept in the house, Doc in young sons bed and Lady on the love seat. They both want to say a big THANK YOU SUZIE! I have added this potion to my book of what to do if. We are sure this will happen again.

Not sure of what George wants to do today, don't really think he knows for sure. He has went to town to check on something for the truck. So thought I would do a quick up date. Becca did your hubby make it alright? I really dislike them traveling when the weather is so bad.

Try to stay warm and dry. Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend!

Are You Kidding Me?

LAKE CITY, FL
SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE JACKSONVILLE FL
300 PM EST THU FEB 11 2010
..RAIN MIXED WITH SNOW POSSIBLE ACROSS SOUTHEAST GEORGIA AND
PORTIONS OF NORTH FLORIDA LATE FRIDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING...

Today is Friday, February 12, 2010. This appeared in my in box, are you kidding me? I had to read it twice and make sure of the area location. This morning I turned on the Weather Channel only to see that yes, there is a very good chance of snow.

George is coming home this weekend, it is a three day weekend for him. He is not happy about the snow and is considering leaving very early today from work. Called me this morning and was concerned about the interstate closing. I don't think the snow will stick, although looking at what has happened in Texas, anything is possible. This winter has proven to be anything but normal.

Today is my go to town day. YUCK! Would much rather be in a nice warm, dry house. It has rained all night again, everything is so wet. Wednesday night the dogs went after a skunk. You would think they would learn to leave them alone. They now stink so bad and the tomato juice did not help. In fact I think it made it worse. Needless to say they are not coming in the house. If you have any knowledge to get rid of this smell, please, please let me know. I will be forever in your debt.

Cleaned house yesterday and worked very little on projects. One is almost complete, maybe today I will have time to finish it. I need to get in a forward direction to town, before I talk myself right out of going. Stay safe and warm.

Really Wet and Squishy

Today is Tuesday, February 9, 2010. It was an icky day until about four. Rained all day, just icky. Then about four the sun came out and it was beautiful. So I went outside, only to find out that everything is so soggy, squishy mess. You can't walk around the yard with out sinking. It was a day that I just couldn't get warm.

Son #5 can in this morning saying that he had to go to work. Have a good day son. Back inside he came, his car wouldn't start. So he tried to jump it with the Jeep. Nothing. Here he came back again, mom I need a ride to work. Okay be right there. My heart just went out to him. He was having one of those days and it really hadn't started yet. It did get better, his boss bought him lunch.

I worked on a few projects today. Finished the pink with red heart pillow, "sisterhood" and started another one. Also am working on a wall hanging. At this point I am thinking it is going to be a wall hanging.

George called at his usual time and sounded pretty good. He forgot to call the do not call list yesterday. LOL He would be the one to scream the loudest about it. So he said he was calling as soon as he hung up with me. Then he called me again at 9:45, this is past his bedtime. I asked what was wrong and he said nothing. Okay, but you need to be thinking about getting some sleep, four comes around really fast. We said good night.

I so can not wait for Spring to get here. We are under freeze warnings again! What is going on this year? This is supposed to be Florida for crying out loud. Like I have said before, when I was younger the winter and I were friends, not so much any more, it makes me body ache. LOL

Finished A Couple Of Little Things

Today is Monday, February 8, 2010. It was a beautiful day, the sun was shinning and blue skies. It was still cool outside, you needed a jacket but nothing like it has been. At least it wasn't as windy and it was dry.

I didn't get to much done today just a couple of little things finished that I had started. The grandson spent the night last night and helped me lots today. He worked with clay and did lots of stamping. He is funny though, he will not stamp all over a page, it has to be rows and rows of only one kind. We don't mix them up, I was told this. He wanted to hold the pedal down while I sewed. Oh not today little man, my fingers are to close to that needle for you to be in control.

His mom came and picked him up, he wasn't ready to go. His mom thought differently. So after they had left we went and got groceries. Young son has taken to going with me on this chore. I am not sure why, because most of the time he tells me this place is crazy. Yes, I know, but we need to eat.

For those of you that have cell phones and are billed for incoming calls, just a heads up. Sometime this month your cell numbers will be available to the telemarketers. To prevent this or at least curb it you can put your cell number on the Do Not Call List, the number is 888-382-1222. It is an automated call and it has to be done from the cell phone that you are adding to the list. It only takes a minute to do.

George called early tonight, said it is wet and cold there. He said that his truck is hating him. This morning again there was ice on his baby. LOL He has been in some kind of class all day. I worry when he is in class, he has a tendency to fall asleep when he is bored. He said all was good and he stayed awake.

So tomorrow I get to start some new projects. I get so excited starting new ones. Truly getting better about finishing up before starting new ones. Got some really cool stuff from Cindy of The Shabby Hag that I am so excited about using!

An Enjoyable Weekend

Today is Sunday, February 7, 2010. It has been a pretty weekend. It would have been a warm weekend if the wind wasn't blowing. The warmth of the sun was so welcomed. I do think that Spring is on its way, at least the Chain Tree and the Rose Bush are thinking so.

George came home Friday for young son's birthday on Saturday. Young son was very happy to see him pull in the driveway Friday night. Like when he was little waiting for his daddy at the window. That seems like it wasn't that long ago. Now our baby of 7, he has turned 14. And to think that our first born will be 27 in a few months.

The daughter and her family came over late evening Friday, so young son opened his gifts. He was tickled with the xbox 360. I guess that this game you can subscribe to and play "on line" with other players. What happened to Atari and Pong? A simple joystick was all that was needed to play, very simple compared to the ones that they use today. I do think this is why I don't play these games, the controllers have way to many buttons for me to remember what they are used for.

Saturday we all went out to dinner. a very enjoyable meal. Great company, conversations and the food was pretty good too. Not to mention I didn't have to clear the table and do the dishes. LOL

George had to leave to go back today. They wanted pizza. So I made pizza and got him packed and loaded up. He locked his frozen food in the tool box on his truck. Now I know it wasn't funny when someone took his last cooler, but watching him lock the cooler in the tool box was funny.

Now it is time to clean up the kitchen and get back to work. We did make a trip to Gainesville on Saturday it took us about two hours. Just a quick trip there and back. I was able to get the spring/summer fabric that I so wanted to use on my next projects. I saved 20% by printing off a coupon. Thank you Sarah for the heads up that I was able to do this. I bought 5 bundles so it was like getting one free.

Okay time to clean up the kitchen and get to work. Hope that everyone is safe and warm. These winter storms have been really ugly this year. Be safe.....

A Really Gorgeous Day

Today is Wednesday, February 3, 2010. It was a gorgeous day! The sun was shinning and so very warm. Needless to say, I didn't get to much done in the house.

With the weather so nice I cleaned up the mess that the storm had left behind. I couldn't believe the size of some of the oak limbs that were down or just hanging there in the tree. The big oak in the front is naked, only the mistletoe is left behind. Its funny that today about half of the yard is green again. Last week is was all brown because of the cold. There is even some green on one of the stag horn fern. Keeping fingers crossed that more appears.

The turtle tote is all but finished. The button is in the oven now and it needs to be clipped. But it should be in the mail to a dear friend within the week. Yes, Autumn Turtle, this one is for you. It was made with six inch squares, has four pockets inside and one on the outside. Thinking a dream pillow made of the same fabric would be in order.

Young son will turn the big 14 on Saturday. So tomorrow I will head over to the GameStop to get an xBox or at least that's what I think it is. No, I am taking my daughter with me, she knows what it is that he wants. I am so out of the loop with all of the different game systems.

Talked to George tonight and he sounds worse today than he did yesterday. He said yesterday that he was feeling better and then today, not so good. I did convince him to go to bed early, at least he told me he was going to.

Laundry tomorrow while the weather is so nice, I so can't wait for summer to get here. Even had to add water to the pool today. I can't figure out how so much water leaves the pool while there is a cover on it. Shouldn't it work like a green house and just vapor to the cover and then land back into the pool? One of those questions that make you go, hmmmm.

A Do Nothing Weekend

Today is Monday, February 1, 2010. It was another cloudy, rainy day. Cool enough to be wearing a jacket, supposed to be 33 degrees again tonight.

George was here for his day and a half. He is still sick and I think he should have stayed there and not traveled. He needs to rest and he can't rest driving 14 hours. I know that he wants to come home, I want him home too, but he has got to get some rest in order to get well.

He got in late Friday night and looked rough. So he got cleaned up and went to bed. He slept until almost eleven. When he got up he sounded better and looked better too. He spent the day stretched out on the couch, channel surfing. We all went out to dinner and it was nice.

Saturday night he didn't sleep at all for coughing. I asked him to go to the doctor. I knew what the answer to that was going to be, but I thought I would try. He gets so winded so quick doing nothing. I am not a doctor, but I know this is not a good thing.

Needless to say he was exhausted after driving seven hours back. When he got there he called to let me know. Told him to turn the heat up before getting a shower. He was going to unload the truck and then get cleaned up. Well, he fell asleep before unloading the truck. Someone took his cooler of cooked food. Good thing all of his dry goods were locked up in his tool box. He still has about ten days worth of cooked food in the freezer.

Worked around the house today, just picking up and getting things put away. It's just young son and I, son #5 is over at his sister's house. We made a scramble for dinner and are just hanging out. Tomorrow I should be able to get a couple of projects finished up. Then to start a new lap quilt, this one I am really excited about.

Wishing everyone a Blessed Imbolc! Will have a house full of lit candles.
