Such Is Life

Today is Thursday, December 17, 2009. When I woke up this morning the sun was shinning it was a beautiful day. Now for all of you that thought the 80 degrees was great, here is the five day forecast for me. If it is going to be this cold, I WANT snow! I want to make snow angels and snowmen and for sure go sledding. So we go from 80 degrees to 28 degrees in under a week, this is no fun.

Today was in my mind a wasted day. It doesn't seem like much got done. We did get the logs inside and a couple buckets of what I call sticks, hubby calls kinlin', to get the fire going. Got the boys living room really cleaned and two loads of laundry on the line and dry. No rain, but it sure did get cloudy this afternoon. I wonder if the clothes will freeze at 28 degrees, hmmm.

Then had to run to town, which just couldn't wait until tomorrow when I usually go. But when I got home I did start a fire before dinner.

So now dinner is cooking and I get a call from #3 son. It was just as I had thought while he was here. He didn't have a job or a place to live, no money and no gas to get home. So now I call his dad to let him know what is going on. He is not a happy camper, " Why did he go back if he didn't have a job?" Baby I don't know, I do know that I am not going to let one of my kids sleep in their truck and certainly not in this weather. So after eating, ran back to town AGAIN to send a money gram for gas.

Got back to the house refueled the fire and cleaned up the kitchen. My plan was to have the other quilt all cut and ready to start sewing tonight. He is here now, taking a shower and then to eat I am sure. Tomorrow is a new day......

Remember yesterday, dream about tomorrow, but live today. ~Brightest Blessings~

  1. While your day may have been disjointed, it still sounds like you got a lot done! And kids..what can you say. .the older they get, the bigger their problems. If only you could solve them with the majick of a healing kiss on a skinned knee. But maybe that is part of the growing up for both kids and parents. .learning to walk that fine line of when to step in and help out, and when to let them make it on their own.
For him to have returned, knowing he didn't have a job, nor a place to live, he must have wanted so much to resolve his major dilemma himself. It sounds like you have instilled in him, the desire to be able to take care of himself, which is the ultimate of what parents should do, but it is wonderful that he has his parents to be supportive, when his first plan failed. It sounds like you are doing a fine job of walking that fine line, Dede.

It isn't easy being a good parent, and supportive hugs are winging their way to you!

Oh, and your fire is lovely. I envy you! I grew up in a home with two fireplaces, and have never had one of my own. No matter how hard I've wished for one, it has never appeared! :-)

Your clothes will get very cold, but won't freeze until it gets to zero, and only if they still have a lot of moisture left in them.

Take care, and I hope that today turns out just as you would like it to do!

    Hugs!!!

  3. Oh Dede, things will work out with him soon I am sure. The economy is bad everywhere and so it is hard for people to keep jobs.

I hope all will be well.

The girls love my angel sign, thanks.

  5. Mother's intuition works better than any conversation doesn't it. We always know without any words spoken. It will work out for him I am sure, apparently his path was and is changing for reason. Geee whizzz you accomplished way more than I did today, now I'm feeling guilty, lol. Have a GRAND weekend!! Did you get your slippers okay?

  7. Hi hon...sorry I am late here..been nuts here! No excuse..I am sorry hon. I can so relate to what you are saying..seems like that age just can't seem to figure out two steps ahead..then it is such a surprise when they fall in a hole! Of course you will pull him out hon..that is just you! I can totally understand not wanting him to sleep in his car. He will figure it out in time..he will. Hang in there and breathe hon. Big gentle hugs!
    Love, Sarah
