Looks Can Be So Deceiving

Today is Thursday, February 25, 2010. It was a beautiful day out there today. Just gorgeous! How looks can be so deceiving! It was breezy and very cold out there. However, looking out through the dining room window, it would appear to be a very warm come play with me in the sun day.

When I woke up this morning, it was thrilling to see the sun coming up and the beautiful blue skies. So exciting! Until I went out to open the gates for the delivery guys and the meter reader guy, they were all due today. OH MY WORD! It was cold and I do mean cold. It didn't take me long to do what I had to do out there. It seems that once you get cold there is no getting warm.

Oh how I long to be out there in my shorts and bare foot. The warmth of the sun warming my body and the ground. Playing in the dirt and planting my garden. Firing up the BBQ family dinners at the picnic table, grandkids in the pool, eating crabs and oysters. All of the fresh vegetables from the garden. The very long warm summer days. Watching our pale bodies turn golden brown, our bulbs turning into a gorgeous firework of colors. The smell of fresh cut grass.....

Back to the real world of jeans and sweat shirts, socks and shoes. A fire in the fireplace, with tonight down to 20 degrees. Fresh baked bread out of the oven this evening, Doc curled up on Young son's bed and Lady curled up on the love seat.

Remember yesterday, dream about tomorrow, but live today. ~Brightest Blessings~

  1. I know what you mean by those days that fool you. I've been tricked many a time by a beautiful sunny day. No fooling anyone out there today though. There's a blizzard going on.

  2. Okay, I'll have a seat next to the fire with a slice of that fresh baked bread and a glass of chocolate milk please, yum!!! Last weekend was like that here, beautiful blue sky, left to take the kids home and it was frigid. I'm not really a Summer kind of gal though either, hate the heat to, I know I'm fussy, lol. Fall is my favorite followed by Spring!! The perfect weather is if you have to wear a sweatshirt silly. Keep warm and toasty.

  4. do you have visions of summer or what... yet I have to say I can not blame you... went to bed last night to a slow rain and woke up with the ground covered in white. I trust mother nature in all her yet, I do wish that she would allow spring to come and be more present... Heres hoping your weekend is a bit better... blessings

  5. My Dad in south of you and he called yesterday. He said he was freezing. I think we are all ready for Spring! We have snow and winds again maybe 3 more inches of the white stuff. Oh well I'm going to get back to painting bunnies. Yummy bread! :)

  6. We've had your weather this week too. The few sunny days we've had are bitter, bitter cold! But standing in my kitchen, lifting my face to the sunshine works wonders for my spirit anyway!
