The "Lizard" Lost Its' Legs

Today is Wednesday, May 26, 2010. The storms rolled in yesterday afternoon as expected. Took advantage of it, opened up the house, so love the smell of rain. Everything seems to be so clean and fresh.

Yesterday morning I cleaned the critters, feed and watered them all. Off to dump the waste into the compost pile. Now after that little "lizard" thing the day before, I do use extreme caution when walking over in that part of the yard. Well, look who is back in the same spot he was in the day before! After my heart stopped racing, I called my son on the cell phone, he was in the house, told him to bring my camera and get out here. Now you tell me that's a lizard! Son #5
didn't know of the day before with this "lizard". I told him about what had happened and he said yeah mom, that's a snake. No kidding!

So today when son #3 comes over to get something to eat, it's about that time, I will have him get that "lizard" out of the yard. He is one of those kids that think they are cool and has a couple for pets. Pets? UGH! And I will hear from him, just like his dad how it won't hurt you and all of the other stuff. I really don't care, just get it out of my yard!

So when George got home, I asked him about where the "lizard" had ran off to. He said he went out towards the pines. Oh really? As he is telling me this story, I am pulling up the picture. I told him that I think the "lizard" had lost its' legs. His eyes bugged out of his head and he wanted to know who took the picture. I did.....You got that close to it? No! I used that zoom on the camera. I will leave the waste for you to dump when you get home in the evening until that thing is gone.

So today I will get some laundry on the lines before the storms roll in this afternoon. Started working at clearing out my craft room, boy is it slow going. With any kind of luck I will get it finished today.

Remember yesterday, dream about tomorrow, but live today. ~Brightest Blessings~

  1. yes I do not think that is no lizard... at least it sounds like George was trying to ease your mind. They mean well... Don't you just love when they do such things. hope you get rid of the "lizard" soon

  2. That was no lizard, my friend. Mother Moon is right. George was trying to make you feel better, a little less afraid. Guess he didn't want you being scared every time you went outdoors. My hubby does the same thing.

  3. "out towards the pines" LOL mmm hmmmm

  4. Ewwwwww, I'm sure he would look a little better with legs, m a y b e e e e. I've never seen a red snake and I am more than happy to go through life not seeing one thank you!!

Hope everything else is going well!!

    Enjoy your weekend!!
    ((Big Hugs))

  5. Dede I think you are right that is no lizard. I am with you I wouldn't go out there either.LOL
I hope you have a great day!!

  6. OMG&G's! I enlarged your photo and thought I saw red and black bands. .is that a Coral Snake? I don't blame you. .I wouldn't want to be out there either. .in fact, I think that you are incredibly brave to be living in Florida if you don't like snakes!
Here, we only have one that is poisonous, but it is reclusive, only will strike as a last resort, and won't kill you. Pack up your chickens and move north, Dede!

  7. Hey, Dede. I'm thinking your lizard might be a broad-headed skink. They're big and weird looking, but pretty harmless...they'll eat your bugs! Here's a link to them:
Hope this is what you've got :)

It was nice of you to take time out of your busy day to stop by. Blessings to you and your family! (((HUGS)))
