Ten Things That Make Me Happy

Today is Thursday, January 14, 2009. The weather I think is getting warmer! At least it wasn't in the teens last night. Right now it is 29 degrees and the sun is trying to peek out from behind the clouds.

I received an award for Mother Moon's Message blog. Her blog is wonderful, inspiring, insightful, will make you laugh and cry. Then there are the posts that hit home. The ones that make you think and go I get it! Thank you so much for passing this on to me! With this award you are to list ten things that make you happy.

My husband makes me really happy. I not only love him, I like him! He is my best friend, the one that I can talk to about anything. The one that makes me feel good, no matter how I look or feel. The one that can make me laugh and the one that also taught me to laugh at myself. The one that tells me every night at dinner, thank you baby, that was good. Even when he is not at home, he will call me and tell me this. He is the one that I can count on, no matter what happens.

My grandkids make me happy. They are so energizing! They range in age from nine months to 9 years old. Right now we are at five boys and five girls! We only have one girl that is really not a tomboy. The summer is the most fun with them. They love to work in the yard, planting and raking. Not to mention the pool is their favorite place to be in the summer. It is a full house! Papa fires up the grill and we cook out, loads of hot dogs. Papa can't cook them fast enough! LOL They are always there to snuggle or just sit in my lap. Those little arms stretched out to pick them up, the little ones that grab you by the leg and just squeeze.

My mama makes me happy. I am so blessed to have her. She is so full of energy at the age of 73, she can out do most of the folks that I know. She says it like it is, no sugar coating anything with her and she expects the same. Right now she is so ticked off at the government that I thought she was going to blow a gasket. Now I know that isn't funny, but to see her that mad, well it is funny. She hasn't been to a doctor in 45 years and will tell you to stay away from doctors. LOL I just can't imagine my life without her.

Working in my yard makes me happy. Digging into the dirt and planting seeds, watching them grow to produce flowers or food. Digging up the little oak trees that have started, to pot them and give them to people that want them. Sharing starters with others makes me really happy.

My friends make me happy. I don't have lots of friends, but the ones that I have, we have been through so much together. Through thick and thin we are always there for one another. No matter the time day or night. We know that we can count on each other. If it is a shoulder to cry on or a swift kick in the backside, it will be there.

Learning new things thrills me. I can remember learning to make a button hole. Now to some that might seem like no big deal. But let me tell you when I mastered that the first time, my heart soared. Egg rolls was another thriller. The first time that I made them, well lets just say they exploded in the fryer.

Alone time now makes me happy. When I first quit working to stay at home, I was lost. I would wonder around the house really not sure of what I was "supposed" to be doing. Then it dawned on me, anything that I want to do, it's OK to do. I really enjoy my alone time now, it took some work to figure this out. I am very comfortable with who I am and where I am at in my life.

Cleaning my house energizes me and makes me very happy. I love to clean my house, open the windows, clean the walls, get the ceilings and vents cleaned. Light incense and turn on the music and clean away. I have such a great sense of accomplishment when I am finished. Those little eraser sponge things are great, you get one of those bad boys in your hand and you can clean so much with so little effort. I think these things just amaze me, kind of like a fax machine.

A plate of really cheesy nachos and a good movie with my family. We don't watch to much television, but every now and then the boys will come up with a good movie and want to watch it together. This is a special time now that they have gotten older and with trying to get everyone together at one time.

My blogging makes me very happy. I have met so many wonderful people. Leaned so much from so many. A place to talk about my day and read of others and their day. A place to come when I am having a not so great day, to be reminded that there are others out there so much worse off then you are, so quit your whining. A place to laugh, a place to cry, a place to learn new things, a place to make you really think and a place to give your a reality check.

Remember yesterday, dream about tomorrow, but live today. ~Brightest Blessings~
