Today is Sunday, May 23, 2010. The weather has been wild here. The days start out beautiful and really end with a bang. Friday night we lost power for most of the evening and even had hail. Found out there was a tornado that had touched down on Brandford highway. It has been several years since we have had one and hoping that it is many more before we do again.
George is off this weekend so with his help to watch the girls and one fella, we let them out of the coop. We have far to many hawks to try to do this by myself, they were so much fun to watch. They have now started this flapping of the wings, when one does it they all follow suit. Running and flapping their wings. Well the little fella hit the roof, so today we clip wings. I think it scared him as much as it did me. To watch them scratching the dirt and leaves is so funny, they really tear it up. Almost like they are dancing, to much fun.
I noticed a couple of days ago that they were starting to lose their feathers, their baby feathers. Their little backsides look so lacy with all of the new ones coming in. They are really grooming themselves, each feather seems to get attention from them.
We did get lots done in the yard yesterday before the storms rolled in. It's so nice to stand back and look at it when you have finished. There has been thunder all morning and clouds coming in from the south, so had better get out to trim those feathers before the buckets of rain come pouring down.
Remember yesterday, dream about tomorrow, but live today.~Brightest Blessings~
Another beautiful piece of jewelry. Watching your feathered friends seems like a lot of fun. I remember my grandma's chickens, but I was too afraid of them to pay attention. They sure were a temperamental bunch.

Love the bracelet!
ReplyDeleteI miss having chickens. I'm glad you are having so much fun with them.
Hope those tornadoes pass you by - eek!
So glad you had a good weekend!
Love the bracelet!
ReplyDeleteI wish (maybe) I had chickens. I got the chicken wire to start a place to keep them. I will be transforming a gourd arbor into a chicken yard! Any tips?

The bracelet is beautiful! Also wishing good weather for you, storms are starting up here and although it doesn't happen often, I'm always worried about tornadoes.
