Cooler Weather Is Here

Today is Wednesday, October 6, 2010. The weather has really cooled off this week! It has been in the the high 70's all week and in the 50's over night. I do believe that fall is coming!

With the cooler temperatures the house is opened up, loving it. Cleaned the kitchen from top to bottom and cleaned out cabinets of "stuff" that hasn't seen day light since this time last year. If it hasn't been used in a year, it gets tossed. Then I moved things around, so it should be interesting when the guys go looking for something.

George is back to wearing long jeans to work. He has been is shorts all summer and yesterday he decided that it might be best to wear something a little warmer. I am going to put that off for as long as I can. My feet won't know what to do being enclosed, they like nothing on them and only sandals when they are forced into them.

The holiday candy was put on hold the last couple of days. That's okay the house sure feels better. Tomorrow I will get back at it and have it finished just like all of the other years.

Mama called me yesterday and said that she had gotten a check from that guy for $250! Well that's a start. If it takes him six months to pay her back, at least she will get it. I don't think she will ever do something like that again. She told me after five months she didn't think she would be seeing it again. Keeping fingers crossed that he continues to repay her.

While cleaning the pool yesterday, I thought, hey I don't have to close this thing up by myself this year! George is home and he and the boys can do it. If the temperatures continue being cooler, we can get it closed up soon. Nothing like pouring money, time and energy into a pool that is way to cold to use, just doesn't make sense.

The girls laid over ten dozen eggs last month! I am so proud of them. Now I need to get the sides of their house covered and get them some light in there. As long as they have 14 hours of light they will continue to lay. Have to make sure they stay warm so have to get a heat light in there too. Then I read that if they "drink" frozen water it would kill them. So I need to figure out how to keep their water from freezing when it gets really cold.

Added some jewelry to my shop the last two days. Took pictures and even listed them, this is not my favorite thing to do. My pictures never look right no matter how many I take or at what time I take them. I do find it is better taking them outside.

The top for the Jeep arrived yesterday! Needless to say George had a project to do last night after dinner. It looks pretty good, it wasn't available in white, so got the black one with tinted windows in the back. The tinted windows will make it cooler for the kids. Going to see mama today, have to wait until early afternoon. She doesn't get up in the mornings, likes to stay up all night.

Remember yesterday, dream about tomorrow, but live today.~Brightest Blessings~

  1. You have no idea how happy it makes me, to hear that your weather is cooling!!!!!! Yessssss!

And oh yes, close dang pool, when it's no longer being used! Once upon a time, we had a working heater in ours. Which they loved but... I used to have *kaniption fits* on cool mornings, when I'd see the steam rising off the pool! All I saw was the $$$ to heat it, rising into the air and being lost. Eeeek!

When the heater "died," we never got another. No matter how much family "cried" about it. -grin- You want it... You buy it... You pay for running it... ,-)

You cleaned your whole kitchen and got rid of "stuff," in just one year! Oh you are amazing! Will you please come up here and do the same, for me? :-))))))))))))

I am so in awe of someone who doesn't just "talk-the-talk" about wanting to get rid of "stuff." Which I fear, I am very *guilty* of. Must get a move on, myself, with this getting rid of "stuff" thing!

    Gentle hugs...

  2. Hi Dede! You sound like a busy bee. I should get that bug, and start cleaning my house. :) It needs it! lol! I love this peek into your life! As for the chickens, I know they make defrosters for bird baths, so I'm sure someone has something similar for chicken coops. Happy cleaning and making things! I know how you feel about taking pictures and posting for etsy. Not so much fun. xox! Pam

  4. Send me some of that energy, I need some!! School is back in session and of coarse what does that mean yep, the grand kids have already begun sharring their germs, ackkkk. I have a nasty cold already, gee whizzzz.

Wow, 10 dozen eggs!! Bet your a baking fool!

Poor mama, keeping my fingers crossed she gets every dime and real soon!!

As far as shoes go, I rather not but I don't like to be barefoot either, I ruin a lot of socks by running around inside and outside in my socks, I'm worse than the grand kids, lol.

Hope your having a great week!!

  6. I'm so glad the Autumn weather has found you and you are enjoying the cooler temps. And I'm really happy to hear Mama received some money from that horrible man!

Lots to do to Winterize everything. Have to go to Mom's to help bring the gazebo down and other outside ornaments into the shed. The snow and ice here isn't kind!

Swim in that pool as long as possible!
