October Already

Today is Friday, October 1, 2010. The weather has started to cool a little only 88 degrees yesterday, which is about 8 degrees less than it has been. This is wonderful! Maybe fall is on its way here.

This week has been one of those weeks were you say to yourself, "Why bother?". Etsy has been making some changes to the site, which has really messed up loads of things. From the checkout to listing, uploading pictures, even the RSS feeds are not working. Sure hope that they get things back to normal really soon.

I love mama, but sometimes I have to wonder, what were you thinking? I went to see her a couple of weeks ago and I knew that something was up, just didn't know what. So me being me, I asked her what was going on. She dropped her eyes and said I might just as well tell you. Ohhh, what have you done? She "loaned" this man a good amount of money seven months ago and hasn't even got a payment from him. Please tell me that you wrote a check to him. Okay then mama, I will just go have a little one on one chat with him and if he doesn't think he needs to start paying you back, there is always small claims court. He is supposed to send her a check this week, so we shall see. If no check by next Friday, I will go file the paper work.

Mama lives on a very fixed income and only works here and there, not to much any more. She lives well within her means and is usually very careful with her money. This is so not like her to do. We pay a couple of her bills every month and don't mind doing it, so that she will have a little money left at the end of the month. This mans attitude was he would get to her when he could, I don't think so. If he had taken a bank loan, he would have started repaying it thirty days later, not seven months. Keeping fingers crossed that she gets a check from him.

The girls really enjoyed the sun yesterday after all of the rain we have had. I took pictures on my cell phone, but can't figure out how to load them to the computer. Maybe young son will know how to do this. They were all sunning themselves, all huddled together. Looked like a bunch of dead chickens laying there all stretched out.

Getting the holiday candy made and going to make an angel food cake today. I love them, but having to use a dozen eggs I rarely made them. Now with the girls doing such a great job of laying those eggs I can make one without feeling guilty about using that many eggs.

Need to get the laundry on the lines and run to town, all of the critters need food this week. Young son is going to be so happy....okay maybe not. Probably about as happy as I am to have to get the quarterly taxes done this weekend.

Remember yesterday, dream about tomorrow, but live today. ~Brightest Blessings~

  1. Oh, Dede! How could someone borrow money from your mom? He is not a nice person. I hope he pays her and you don't have to go to court. ACK! Some people! I'm glad it is cooling off - it will make all that cooking you are doing more fun. I hope you sneak in a nap, or a walk, or some zoning out time for YOU! xox Pam

  2. The weather has cooled down a lot here in England! Raining, windy and cold!

I really hope your mum gets her money back. She's lucky she's got such a good daughter who'll help her with small claims if needed. Hopefully the man will do the right thing and begin making payments soon.

  3. Yes, October! And I so hope it cools, for you.

Oh dear! Mama was able to be convinced to loan a man money. Mmmmmm... Does this tell you, that she needs some more financial supervision?

How you do that, I don't know. But... It could get worse, unless something is figured out... Just saying...

I try to keep a constant attitude of; "I may be old, but I'm not stupid!" [And at 73, I am old!] And say it, if necessary. There are unscrupulous people out there. :-(((((((((((((

    Courage!

    Gentle hugs...

  6. What a low-life to borrow money from an elderly woman and then just not bother paying her back! I hope it all works out without court, but I'm glad you've got Mama's back!

    Too cute about the chicks!

    Happy October!

  8. Happy October, Dede! What kind of candy are you making? Your poor mama...but she had good intentions and with her good heart shall come good karma. She will get her money back. :) So sorry I haven't been around. I've gone back to school and between work and studying, eek...hardly leaves time for myself but I need to make the time because I miss all my extracurricular activites that kept me sane! :)
