A Gorgeous But Cold Day

Today is Saturday, February 17, 2013. The weather has been really odd here or at least I think so.  The day before yesterday was just gorgeous, warm and sunny.  Then yesterday rolled around and cloudy, but okay a little cooler than the day before.  Then came the showers....it cleared up and the sun was shinning.  It was so inviting, until you oped the door to head out. That just wasn't going to happen.

We had planned on going to the Olustee Festival downtown yesterday.  Friday the weather was really like a Spring day, so why wouldn't Saturday?  Silly me...We woke up to clouds and a little cooler than Friday.  Well that stinks, so we got dressed warm and headed out to downtown.  We weren't there that long or it didn't seem like it and the winds picked up.  I really felt sorry for the vendors trying to keep their tents up and offerings on display.  They were fighting a losing battle.  Then came the showers, well crud.

We needed to go get kerosene and then produce and groceries.  So off we went to do all of that hoping that if it rained any harder it would happen while we were inside. After all, with the wet, came the chill to the bone cold.

After getting kerosene we went to get produce, I love our produce stand.  We got another 1/2 flat of strawberries, they are always so sweet. Some avocados, cherry tomatoes, purple onion, green grapes, young son loves those, radishes and I don't know what else. Made a salad with the cherry tomatoes, purple onion and cucumber, that was so good! So slicked the strawberries up and threw a pound cake in the oven.

By now the sun had come out and I thought well now, let me go run that lawn mower for 45 minutes and get that patch on the side of the yard that has grown like crazy.  I opened the door and decided it could wait.  Just to cold and I don't even think mowing would have kept me warm.  So that can wait until the weather decides to warm up again.  It was suppose to get down to 26 last night and again tonight.  I have to keep reminding myself that it IS February and it isn't Spring, at least not yet. But it is so very pretty out there.....

So today I have some sewing I want to do.  Found these really cute place mats that I want to make.  Need to make four of those and finish up a mixed media journal that I have started.  George was suppose to be off this weekend, but that didn't happen,  He had to work this morning and at 4 it was mighty cold out there.  And I am hoping that I can get my started bread going again today, the guys miss it every ten days and the neighbor does too.

Wishing everyone a warm and cozy day!

~Remember yesterday, dream about tomorrow, but live today!~ Brightest Blessing

  1. That salad looks great. I have to have red onions in my salad. Then I pay the price all day. LOL!!! I've a magnificent fruit stand down the block from me, one of the largest in Brooklyn. Came in handy with my change in diet. I can get just about anything I want and then some. I've learned about many new fruits from this place.

  2. I used to have morning sickness in all the first trimester, that sucked. Now i just got the flu and i can not take any medication, just a few herbal teas. Which is how i usually treat it but even the herbs i can use are now limited as well as the number of cups.
