Catching Up

Today is Wednesday, June 2, 2010. The weather has been really wild, one minute the sun is shinning bright and the next, thunder and buckets of rain. We are saturated here and is suppose to continue the rest of the week.

We were able to get mom moved on Sunday morning before the rains rolled in. She is so excited to be in a new place, she is renting and no longer has to worry about yard work or anything else. The chickens are getting bigger and they sure like to be outside of their coop. Yesterday morning, they were crazy, I opened the door to clean and out they came. We have to be so careful because of the hawks here. So after about an hour it was time for them to get inside so I could feed and water the rest of the hungry critters. Well they didn't see it that way, they were not ready to go inside.

So today I am going to get back to work in my craft room and finish up things that I had started before we had left for SC. Catch up on whats been going on with all of my blogger friends tonight when everyone is settled in. I really enjoy three day weekends, but trying to catch up is something else. Wishing everyone a very productive day!

Remember yesterday, dream about tomorrow, but live today. ~Brightest Blessings~

  3. LOL Dede, I can just picture your new rebelious children saying nope mom not ready to go inside yet, hahahhahha. I'm still playing catch up too from having the kiddos for the last two weeks and the Holiday, well, now I keep thinking it's a day later than it is because my husband was home on Monday. Ackkk on the rain, we are still really hot here and they are predicting those thunderstorms for us all weekend, doesn't Mother Nature know weekend rain is bad for family fun, lol.

Your little chicken is getting big, but still super cute!!

  4. What a beautiful bird! They can be so willful though, for supposedly "dumb" birds. You may have to wind up spreading some netting or chicken wire over the top of their grazing area to protect them against the hawks and eagles. I don't know what you can do to protect them against snakes except to seal up every tiny peeky hole in your hen house to prevent them from slithering in at night. I know. .I'm not a bushel of sunshine, but I didn't want you to get a truly ugly surprise some morning.

  6. Hi Dede! I love your chickens. Just last night my hubby and I were trying to figure out where we could put a coop. Of course, we have foxes and hawks, and it snows like crazy here in the winter, so I will have to read up on how to build a very strong, heated coop! lol! Happy almost weekend! xox Pam

  9. I'm so glad your chickens are still fun for you - they are so cute! I'll bet they love running around the yard - of course they don't understand about the hawks - you are a good mama to them!
